Website design

Custom website design, built to turn visitors into enquiries

Material Lab designs and builds custom websites for businesses: information architecture, UX/UI design, development and search basics from one team. You own the code from day 1.

How we decide the scope

Website scope follows the pages visitors need, the interactions they use, languages, forms, and other services the site connects to. We agree the structure and priorities before building.

If people need to sign in and do something, such as book, pay or manage records, that is a web app rather than a website. See the web app page.

What a website from us includes

  • Information architecture. What pages exist and in what order, so a visitor finds what they came for.
  • UX and UI design. The look and the flow, on phones and on desktops.
  • Development. A fast, responsive site built by us.
  • Search basics. Clean page addresses, a sitemap and fast pages, so search engines can read the site.
  • A path to your inbox. Every page ends in a direct way to reach you, such as a quote request.

No one can honestly promise a Google position, and we do not. We build the site so it can be found and so a visitor knows what to do next. For example, PageSpeed Insights on J B Singh’s Custom Clearance service page on 18 Sep 2026 showed Performance 84 on mobile and 99 on desktop, and SEO 100.

Who does what, and who owns what

Material Lab does

  • Scoping: pages, structure and what it will cost
  • Information architecture, UX and UI design
  • Development, testing and launch
  • Search basics: page addresses, sitemap and speed
  • After launch, a care plan that covers changes, if you want one

You own or provide

  • The facts about your business and sign-off on the copy. Who writes the words is agreed in the scope
  • The code, from day 1, with no lock-in contract
  • Decisions on services and pages. We advise, you decide

Brand identity, social media and video are separate work, priced per project, not part of a website build. We have done them for Perhitsiksha Foundation, and they were named in that scope.

How it runs, and how long it takes

  1. StrategyMonth one starts with scoping: what to build, what to cut, and what it will cost.
  2. Design systemOne system for your brand, website, sales material and product, so everything looks like it came from one team.
  3. BuildThe same senior team designs and builds. You see working software early and often.
  4. Stay onAfter launch we keep it running with a care plan, or keep shipping with a monthly build sprint.

How long a website takes depends on its size, so we do not print a number here. We agree the timeline in writing during scoping, before any build starts.

For reference, J B Singh’s site went live in November 2025.

Websites we have built

Both are client builds. The figures are what the clients reported to us, not something we measured.

Questions people ask

How long does a website take?

It depends on the size of the site. We agree the timeline in writing during scoping, before any build starts.

Will my website rank on Google?

No one can promise that. We build the site with clean page addresses, a sitemap and fast pages so search engines can read it. Where you rank also depends on your competitors, your content and time.

Can the website be in two languages?

Yes. We built a bilingual website for Perhitsiksha Foundation. Extra languages add work, so they affect the quote.

Who owns the website?

You do, from day 1. There are no lock-in contracts.

What happens after launch?

We can stay on for agreed changes, security and dependency updates, or hand the site over to you. Stay because it works, not because you are stuck.

Is your website sending you work?
